Volunteers are an important part of our mission. There are many ways that your compassion and expertise can make a difference for the animals in our care. Opportunities are available assisting the public with adoptions or lost and found animals, providing care and affection in our kennels and exercising and training our dogs. We also need foster parents to take home kittens and puppies that are too young to go up for adoption yet. We even have some jobs that can be done from the comfort of your own home or out in our community.

To volunteer, you must be at least sixteen years old and willing to make a six month commitment of approximately three hours per week. Once we've received your application, we'll contact you for our next available orientation. Orientations are held once a month on a Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. During orientation, you will receive an overview of our services, philosophies, and volunteer opportunities. Attendees also get a behind the scenes tour of the shelter. At the end of the session, you will schedule a one-on-one interview with the Volunteer Coordinator to discuss your interests, personal goals and availability in order to find the most suitable volunteer assignment.

Some volunteers may require additional training on our software programs, safe animal handling procedures and safety protocols.

There are many benefits to being a volunteer: getting involved in our community, developing new skills and explore the field of animal care, improving the quality of life for animals, helping animals become more adoptable, meeting new friends, attending our annual appreciation banquet and the fulfillment that comes from knowing you are making a difference!
